Plan on enjoying an exciting Sunday in Dorchester Park.  The Second Annual Antique & Exotic Car Show and Family Fun Day will be held in just a few days on Sept. 7.  The best access to most of the activities is via the Adams Street entrance.  This will enter directly into the car show which goes from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  Continue up the path from the cars through the Food Court and share in all of the Family Fun Day activities that will be offered from Noon to 4:00 PM.  Either of the 2 major paths going to the back of the park from the Dot Ave. entrance will also lead to the day’s events.  Clydesdales will be giving carriage rides along these paths.

Admission to the event is free.

Various food vendors will be in the Food Court, but you can also bring your own picnic lunch.

There is no need to preregister cars for the car show.  Car registration is free and is arranged on site when you arrive.  The gates to the car show open at 8:00 AM.  Greeters will be at the entrance to direct car show participants to parking sites.  Car Show awards will be announced around 2:00 PM.

Rides through the scenic paths in the park on carriages drawn by Clydesdale Horses will start near the tennis courts, a short distance up a path to the left from the triangle at the bottom of the Richview Street stairs.

A list of activities as well as a map of the park’s layout for the day’s events are posted in the notification boxes located at both the Dot Ave. and Adams Street entrances to the park.

As plans are being wrapped up for the Classic Car Show and Family Day in Dorchester Park on Sunday, Sept. 7, our effort to spread the word is expanding.  With thanks for the generosity and efficiency of the New England Regional Council of Carpenters, along with the assistance of Boston City Councillor Frank Baker‘s office, we’re advertising the event on the giant media wall at the Carpenters Center next to the SE Expressway.  The ad is displayed for 12 seconds as it scrolls with other ones.  It’s easy to see at the Columbia Road onramp heading north for the next two weeks, day and night.

Thanks to Mayor Walsh for the free concert performed by Soul City Band in Dorchester Park last night, which was enjoyed by so many on such a nice evening.

Now it’s time to look forward to the next big event in the Park – the Second Annual Antique Car Show and Family Fun Day on the Sunday, September 7.

Plans are rapidly falling in place for what promises to be a wonderful day in Dorchester Park.  Please mark the Sunday after Labor Day on your calendars, and look forward to a pleasant time that is guaranteed to please people of all ages.

Last year there were about 1000 people at the event and this year even more are expected.  Antique and classic cars will be on display on the lower field and Family Activities and entertainment will take place on the upper field.  Food trucks and vendors will be conveniently located along the path between the two fields.  Water will be available for sale.  In the afternoon, horse drawn carriage rides along the scenic paths through the park will be available.  Admission to the car show and all activities is free.  A tent with tables and chairs will be close to the food vendors, but you can also bring your own picnic lunches.

Please follow this page as we get closer to the event.  Details and times of all the different activities will be posted in the next few weeks.  It’s only a short 5 weeks away.
